POSITION OVERVIEW

Learning Lab is SIJCC’s solution for families who need a safe, enriching environment for their elementary-age children to be for their remote school work.

Students not only get the benefit of a Counselor who can guide them in their remote learning, but also a small cohort of other students to socialize with in a safe way.

The Lead Counselor will develop the extracurricular activities for the Learning Lab and supervisor and support the Counselors.

The Lead Counselor will also have a cohort of students of their own.

We plan to start with three cohorts and ten students in each cohort.

Overall, this is a great position for someone who loves and has experience working with elementary-age kids, can devise compelling extracurricular activities, and who can effectively manage adults.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead a cohort of students throughout their day, including extracurricular activities and learning time

Develop and execute extracurricular activities that meet students’ needs

Ensure that health and safety procedures are followed

Serve as primary point of contact for parents in your cohort

Assist students with their learning by troubleshooting technical problems, making sure they attend virtual classes at their assigned times, and tutoring as time and knowledge allows

Administer medication to students that is authorized by parents

Model a culture of fun, respect, safety, and enjoyment among students and staff

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Experience creating and leading learning experiences or extracurricular experiences for elementary-age students

Leader who can take initiative, has a strong sense of ownership and pride for their work, and can problem solve on the fly

Outstanding people skills, resilience, and positivity in the face of stress

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills

Excellent classroom management skills

Ability to work on campus Monday-Friday

High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

Bachelor’s degree or higher (strongly preferred)

Current first aid and CPR certifications

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Wage is in the low to mid $20ish/hour range for approximately 35 hours a week

This position is eligible for benefits:

Other Notes

This position reports to the Director of Jewish Innovation with on-site supervision from the Executive Director

Learning Lab operates under the LA County Department of Public Health day camp guidelines and is fully compliant with health regulations.
