Role Overview

At the heart of Fisker’s visionary product lies a state of the art powertrain and you can play a central role in its delivery.

Fisker has a considerable heritage in cell chemistry, and this role will build on this foundation by actively exploring and engaging with the world’s leading cell suppliers to ensure that our vehicles are always equipped with the best technology to meet our customers’ expectations.

You will build and lead a small and highly capable team to conduct characterization experiments, understand and model performance and degradation, benchmark available cells, and define a roadmap for Fisker’s future cell procurement.

Fisker is a fast-moving technologically focused startup and in this context you will need considerable flexibility and adaptability to deal with the rapidly-developing requirements at the leading edge of EV powertrain implementation.

Skills and Experience

• A PhD in a discipline relevant to lithium ion cell chemistry, with ten or more years subsequent work in the field of lithium ion batteries, preferably in an automotive context

• A strong understanding of cell electrochemistry, and the mechanisms of cell use and degradation

• Knowledge of cell performance simulation, and an ability to translate this into useful modelling of cell charging, discharging, degradation and thermal sensitivity

• A passion for creative research in an applied scientific environment, with a focus on achieving relevant and goals in a timely manner

• Experience of laboratory set-up and operations

• Ability to develop an experimental program for cell characterization

• Strong knowledge of the automotive cell technology and other drivers, and of the key players in the field

• Good analytical and problem solving

Qualifications

• 10+ years relevant professional experience

• BS or MS in electrical, computer engineering or related engineering discipline
