Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Pharmacy Practice
Reporting directly to the Department Chair, the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, Pharmacy Practice (Graduate) provides program specific expertise and is actively engaged in all department initiatives.
Primary responsibilities include developing and delivering didactic education in the professional PharmD program; supporting University and/or School of Pharmacy mission and goals in order to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure, internal consistency, and graduate outcomes that meet workplace and placement expectations; engaging in active scholarly/research activities as specifically defined and expected at the departmental level; providing professional leadership and service at the national, state, or community levels, serving as a teacher, role model, mentor and facilitator; and enabling an educational environment which fosters trust, mutual buy-in, creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility; and maintaining an active pharmacy practice site and providing experiential education in the professional PharmD program.
EDUCATION:
Social, Behavioral and Administrative (SAS) Sciences:
A Ph.D.
or equivalent terminal degree in one of following subject areas: pharmacy administration, public health, health economics, pharmacy law & ethics, and epidemiology.
Pharmacy Practice:
Applicants must have a PharmD degree OR a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy plus experience in the areas of expertise or practice.
AND Must have a documented background in educational methodology consistent with teaching assignments including but not limited to education theory and practice, current concepts relative to specific subjects he or she will be teaching, current clinical practice experience, and distance education techniques and delivery.
Faculty must have met residency or fellowship requirements (post graduate year 1 and/or post graduate year 2) in different specialty areas (such as education, ambulatory care and/or acute care, etc.) or equivalent clinical experience or certification in any of the following specialty areas
– Ambulatory care, acute care, community, general/internal medicine, geriatric, drug information, informatics or any other specialty area.
The successful candidate must show potential for excellence as an educator and scholar.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
Current California Registered Pharmacist License, Pharmacy Board License is required or other current professional licensure by state or national board if applicable.
If clinical faculty does not have a current license, a valid California license to practice pharmacy is required within 12 months from date of hire at employee’s own cost.
Must meet and maintain the qualifications and standards set forth by the California Board of Pharmacy.
Must meet and maintain the qualifications and standards set forth by any accreditation body that West Coast University is accredited by or in process of obtaining accreditation from, for area of expertise and expectations of faculty member as set forth in regulatory documents. Must maintain any professional certifications deemed necessary to meet the requirements of the teaching, precepting and clinical practice role
