The HR Department of VOALA is dedicated to providing the highest quality of service to those who aid our communities’ most vulnerable.JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSESupporting all of the various HR teams, the Human Resources Assistant – Generalist will assist in the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources DepartmentDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Supports implementation of projects• Supports and documents continuous improvement efforts• Supports Compliance with coordinating records requests, handbook and policy reviews, audit support• Works to support each team in the HR Department in general, as needed assisting:? HR Service Team – assisting as needed with new hires, onboarding, employee orientation, triage of calls? Employee Relations Team with administrative work? the Benefits, Leave of Absence (LOA), and Workers Compensation (WC) team,? the Classification & Compensation team• Perform administrative duties such as identifying and organizing documents for electronic archiving, photocopying, data entry and organize materials, credential and licensing tracking• Perform administrative duties such as identifying and organizing documents for electronic archiving, photocopying, data entry and organize materials, credential and licensing tracking• Other duties as assignedQualificationsREQUIREMENTS:• Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verificationsEDUCATION:• High School or GED and some college coursework in Human Resources, Business, or related fieldEXPERIENCE:• Experience in a Human Resources role in a full-service HR DepartmentKNOWLEDGE:• Basic understanding of Human Resources practices• Familiarity with California employment and labor rules• Working knowledge of correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.• Understands and follows oral and written directions as directed.TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:• Proficient Computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel; familiarity with Database entry and report generation.SKILLS AND ABILITIES:• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.• Strong organizational and time management skills• Strong interpersonal skills• Ability to complete projects timely and with minimal oversight• Ability to accurately and effectively compose correspondence and reports.• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, with or without reasonable accommodation, including meeting qualitative and quantitative productivity standards.• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.INTERPERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:• Prompt, team player, sets priorities, handle multiple tasks, good problem solving and decision-making skills.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field• Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).Volunteers of America is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
