Job Summary:
The Data Lead’s focus will include the following main objectives: manage the scope of customers’ requirements for data migration projects to ensure all areas are met, devise and document solid migration plans as well as assume responsibility for delivering migration services for all solutions under the Project Scope.
The resource will be required to take lead responsibility for the delivery of Data Migration track on the Project including but not limited to analysis, design, implementation, testing, validation, and acceptance by all parties.
Job Description:
• Manages and develops the staffing of the Data & Reporting unit on the project team
• Actively champions discovery sessions with project teams to understand data requirements needed to support solution implementations
• Works collaboratively on end to end data conversion and migration with the project, vendor and client teams within an agile environment
• Devises and implements efficient and secure procedures according to industry best practice, for data management and analysis with attention to all technical aspects
• Collaborates with clients to generate data mapping documents between target and source systems.
• Leverages industry-leading tools to extract, transform and load data into source systems in an automated fashion to support data migrations.
• Acts as a liaison between the vendor and business units for data conversion needs and any inputs required by the vendor company for the data conversion process
• Ensures that the vendor meets full conversion targets as defined by the business unit
• Actively seeks to apply controls to the process for realization of all targets within specified timeframes
• Gauges potential risks and provide feasible management strategies so as to trigger response prior to the realization of any negative impacts
• Manages issues arising from the data conversion track, identifying, and communicating any issues found as well as keeping structured records for issues reported
• Performs data profiling tasks to collect statistics, trends, impacts, and summaries that lead to a structured and successful implementation.
• Compiles documentation/reports as needed for internal reporting, status updates, audit requirements etc.
• Forecasts and provides key insights based on data analytics to aid the client in drawing conclusions as to the business value and impact of their data and best approaches for migrating and transforming data to support new system architectures
• Any other related duties associated with the technical and data elements of the project as determined by the Project Manager
The successful candidate should possess the following characteristics:
• Background in a software-oriented, technical support, or training environment
• Practical project management experience
• Proven experience as data lead or similar capacity in a projectized environment
• Demonstrated knowledge of ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) concepts
• In-depth experience with Oracle, SQL and PL/SQL
• Knowledge of the AS 400 platform would be an asset
• Ability to integrate data from multiple, disparate sources
• Extensive experience managing and analyzing data, including strong understanding of Cloud data integration and management
• Capability to take on tasks with little direction, and produce high-value deliverables in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with technical and non-technical users, other departments, and clients
• Demonstrate clarity, depth, and relevance when problem solving
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team, as well as independently under own initiative
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
• 9 – 10 years’ experience in a data related position that includes the use of common database tool, ETL products, and interacting with data within relational databases of which no less than 5 years should be at the management level
• A Master’s degree in an IT related field is not required but would be considered an asset
