Sr Financial Analyst

Under broad, general direction will act independently to perform a variety of complex accounting, financial analyses a nd financial reporting functions. Will work independently, demonstrating advanced knowledge of accounting and data analytics in area of responsibility. Will take ownership for quality results, will exercise judgement to determine the best approach to achieve desired outcomes, will think critically to anticipate and detect issues, will identify, design, and drive system and process improvements, and will utilize advanced analytical skills to the most solve complex accounting and data reporting problems .

  • Independently prepares reports and makes presentations for Senior Management
  • Performs cost benefit analysis related to projects and/or programs
  • Monitors, Researches, documents and presents to management accounting research and conclusions for new and complex transactions and newly issued relevant accounting guidance under GAAP, IFRS, and Statutory basis of accounting
  • Implements changes in regulatory or management reporting requirements or procedures
  • Initiates and drives process improvements
  • Evaluates the plan of action on projects and recommends changes
  • Participates in pilots, special projects and training programs as requested
  • Handles multiple projects and daily tasks with minimal supervision
  • Independently performs analysis of investment-related transactional and valuation data
  • Defines and extracts relevant information from investment systems for complex multi-bases reporting needs
  • Independently evaluates new/complex investments/transactions to determine and document appropriate accounting treatment under the applicable GAAP, STAT and IFRS accounting guidance
  • Communicates directly with the company’s investment advisors regarding transactions recorded in the investments system
  • Responsible for accounting for complex investments/transactions (e.g., equity method investments and derivatives)

Education, Skills, and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or related field required
  • 10+ years of relevant, progressively responsible accounting experience or 4+ years of public accounting experience required
  • CPA certificate or an MBA preferred
  • GAAP, IFRS or SEC experience preferred
  • Knowledge of investments and related accounting policies and procedures
  • Experience with investment systems, e.g., PAM, preferred.
  • Insurance industry experience preferred
  • Oracles EBS experience a plus
