Manager, Domestic Field Application Scientists – US remote

Position can be based anywhere in the US, in close proximity to an airport.**Position Summary:**Field Application Scientists (FAS) for Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Transplant Diagnostics (TDX) division are responsible for supporting TDX’s annual initiatives and priorities through key activities that center around facilitation of field-based product demonstrations, product training, and product troubleshooting.The Manager, Domestic Field Application Scientists’ primary responsibility will be to manage the activities of an FAS team.

In addition, this individual will be required to maintain a deep understanding of, and practical familiarity with, key product lines.

The candidate will make routine use of this product line knowledge when working closely with TDX’s Domestic and LATAM customer base.

Further use of TDX product line knowledge and application will be instrumental in the development and subsequent execution of worldwide technical workshops, to drive the TDX division’s long history of providing continued education in the field of Transplantation/HLA.**Key Responsibilities:**+ Coordinate and approve FAS activity and planning.

Understand commercial initiatives and assist in prioritization during scheduling conflicts+ Maintain metric-driven success and accountability through SFDC and Concur+ Ownership of experimental plan creation and facilitation of field-based product line troubleshooting.

Collaborate with the Technical Application Specialists when troubleshooting is required as part of a Customer Inquiry.+ Assign and perform customer demonstrations/trainings to facilitate sales of new products and development of KOLs+ Travel as needed to tradeshows, workshops and customer laboratories in support of commercial activities+ Increase FAS visibility to the organization by showcasing success stories and accomplishments+ Champion the practice of maintaining close relationships with FAS colleagues, with the intent to promoting collaboration, sharing of best-practices, learning, and overall communication across the FAS team+ Implement and manage strong relationships between FAS and Account Managers by working closely with commercial management to develop best practices and rules of engagement within a matrixed environment.+ Maintain proficiency in legacy TDX product lines, software applications, equipment and keep current with advancements in the field of transplantation/HLA.

Coordinate with internal tech support to arrange for continuing education opportunities to develop staff technical acumen for all product lines.+ Search for and identify opportunities for clinical studies and white papers+ Maintain an up-to-date understanding of current Commercial initiatives and strategies; maintain close collaboration with TDX Commercial team to act on current initiatives and opportunities+ Lead and/or participate in cross divisional customer experience teams to scope and design standardized business processes+ Collect team feedback of ‘voice of the customer’ and provide product feedback to departments such as R&D, Marketing and Tech Support+ Manage team T&E forecasting and budget+ Develop PMD plans and goals with FAS team**Minimum Qualifications:**+ A Bachelor’s degree, or greater, from an accredited higher learning institution in the Biological or Chemical Sciences.+ At least seven (7) years of related working experience required, preferably in an HLA Laboratory or related HLA establishment+ At least five (5) years management experience is preferable.**Preferred Qualifications:**+ Direct experience and knowledge of TDX’s Antibody Detection and/or Molecular Typing products is preferable.+ Strong knowledge and comfort with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.+ Demonstrate success and comfort with creation and facilitation of technical programs and curriculums to both small and large audiences.+ Schedule and complete customer or channel partner visits on short notice to provide urgent product assistance.+ Take complex subjects and communicate the subject clearly and effectively to an audience of differing levels of familiarity.+ Effectively able to multi-task responsibilities and activities, and adapt to sudden changes in expectations and job needs.+ Exercise independent discretion and judgment in execution of duties and decisions.+ Effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, to management, customers, and third parties.+ Communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
