DescriptionThe individual will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of quartz slabs in a safe and efficient manner. Being a main point of contact with the customers, great customer service skills are also required. Other duties would be assisting material handlers to load orders on truck and ensuring truck is in optimal running condition. The successful candidate will be required to train and familiarize themselves in the Warehouse Operation prior to route/truck assignment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:* Operating power unit equipped with multi-speed transmission (Automatic or Manual) safely by adhering to all safety requirements* Perform a variety of duties in the operation of the Warehouse Department such as moving slabs, yard organization and/or maintenance in addition to driving company truck for delivery of quartz slabs.* May plan route to insure most economical use of time and equipment.* Completing all applicable paperwork. Maintain up-to-date Driver Log throughout the duration of each shift.* Will gather documentation of ordered materials, delivery and COD to utilize during the routed and scheduled deliveries.* Operate forklift, as needed, in order to assist in the yard area when needed.* Perform inspections of mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment of truck unit before, during, and after trips, including gauges, lighting and electrical systems, and visual checks of potential water, oil, fuel and air leaks and refer defects or repairs to supervisor; keep equipment clean.* Assist in the installing and maintenance of traffic control devices.* Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.* Observing and complying with rules and regulations of the Ministry of Transportation and the Highway Traffic Act* Other duties as assigned by supervisor.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:* Must have High School Diploma or GED equivalent* Valid Driver’s License, for Short Form Trucks, and Valid CDL Class A or B required for Long Form Trucks – both types required* One (1) year relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.* Knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.* Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment.* Must have excellent safety and compliance record* Must have excellent driving skills* Flexibility to accommodate different start times* Excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors and the general public.* Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as independently.* Able to work with tight deadlines in a multi-task, high priority environment* Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.* Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organizationWORKING CONDITIONS:* May be required for driving for many hours at a stretch (within employment standards limitations), including unloading cargo, and making many deliveries.* Will be required to work both indoors and outdoors* Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals* Overtime as required with possible weekend work as required* Exposure to variable weather conditions is likely* Ability to lift 100 pounds; ability to regularly preform physical movements:* Sitting – long and regular driving hours* Handling/gripping – Handle tools and equipment; grip steering wheel and levers* Climbing up and down stairs/ladders – Climb into cab; Climb onto vehicle to inspect load* Stooping – Occasional stooping during pre- and post-trip inspections and when accessing under vehicle to perform low-inspections* Crouching – During pre- and post-trip inspections to access under vehicle, perform low-inspections* Push/Pull – push and pull safety straps to secure load on vehicleWHAT WE PROVIDE:* Competitive salary & team result-based bonuses* Comprehensive benefit package* 401k with company matching* Paid vacation & holidaysOUR COMPANY VALUES* People First: We treat each other with fairness and respect, consistently provide opportunities for growth, and health and safety are our priority.* Accountability: Together, we take ownership of our actions, business, and future.* Innovation: We are committed to fresh thinking and breakthrough ideas that create value.* Winning Spirit: We are enthusiastic and foster a ‘can-do’ attitude in striving to be No 1.
