Customer interaction in the Outpatient Clinic, with Pharmacist support.Job Responsibilities:OUTPATIENT DUTIESMaintain controlled-drug medication records, as you assist the Pharmacist in preparing and filling prescription items, as permitted by the State Board of Pharmacy.Receive new written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.Interpret and enter physicians’ orders into the computer order system.Establish or maintain accurate patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.Perform drug calculations and interpret prescriptions.Maintain proper storage and security conditions for all drugs.Answer telephones and respond to questions or requests.Process (correct and resubmit) manual insurance claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.Pre-package bulk medicines; fill bottles with prescribed medications, type and affix labels, including cautionary or auxiliary labels.Take inventory, place orders, check-in drugs and supplies, stock shelves, remove out-of-date items from the inventory and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.Clean and help to maintain equipment or work areas according to prescribed methods.Assist customers by answering simple questions, locating items or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.Process returned medications from the facility for credit or destruction.Assists with other tasks and special projects as needed.Support location and departmental goals, and the overall objectives of the Company.Comply with all laws, regulations and standards of ethical conduct.INPATIENT DUTIESPerform duties as directed by the Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacy Manager, or Pharmacist.Obtain information on new patient/youth to establish medical profiles, such as diagnosis or desired therapeutic outcome, allergies, adverse reaction(s) and medical history.Receive prescription and/or medical orders, and enter information into patient/youth profile.Assess prescription/medication orders for completeness, correctness, authenticity, and legality.Calibrate equipment needed to prepare or compound prescription/medication orders.Gather all orders and medications, and prep for clean room according to USP 797/800 compliance.Handle compounding of IV’s and TPN’s; execute preparation of delivery, including IV Compounding.Aseptically prepare all sterile admixture requests for patients, upon receipt of physician orders from clinical and infusion centers.Sanitize IV room, equipment and hood.
Clean, maintain and sterilize equipment or work areas according to approved methods.Package preparations, prepare and affix labels to containers.Perform intermediate checks of prescription/medication orders during processing.Maintain and record drug and supply inventory; review pharmacy stock for expired drugs.
Maintain proper storage and security conditions for all drugs.Organize medication and deliver to designated locations.Work closely with other technicians, pharmacists and clinical staff to fill prescribed medication orders and ensure proper distribution and administration in an inpatient setting.Keep pharmacist updated on patient or service problems.Assist Pharmacist-in-Charge, Pharmacist, or designee to identify and resolve problems that arise with patient/youth therapy.About Rx reliefRx relief is a specialty staffing company providing supplemental pharmacy professionals for all pharmacy practice settings.
