Housing Navigator – The Mayfair

Weingart Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency with multiple locations throughout the Downtown Los Angeles area is hiring for a *Housing Navigator.*

Under the direct supervision of the Program Manager, the Housing Navigator (HN) is responsible for providing temporary housing services to individuals experiencing homelessness. The HN is to identify interim housing for the clients and participants in Weingart Center’s Programs and Services Department. The HN works directly with Case Managers and other service providers who have screened participants for housing. The HN is responsible for locating housing options, developing relationships with landlords and property management companies as well as facilitating the application process along with the CM and participant. They will assist the CM with housing selection, budgeting and finding needed supportive services in the community.

Weingart Center’s *Interim Housing Program *provides safe, secure shelter, meals, and case management on a 24-hour basis for adults experiencing homelessness. Our multiple sites throughout the Los Angeles area incorporates low barrier, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction policies and procedures into their program design and housing operations.

*This is an on-site, in office position, working a 40-hour shift, Monday to Friday.*

*Weingart Center no longer requires (though highly recommends) position incumbent to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined and mandated by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), the Department of Health Services of Los Angeles County (DHS), and the California Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1973 (Cal/OSHA) effective August 4, 2023. However, this mandate may be reinstated at any time as recommended by these governing agencies.*

*WHAT WE LOOK FOR*:
* You must be empathetic and have excellent communication and listening skills.
* You have a strong knowledge of low-income housing resources, social service, welfare, legal, corrections, health care, substance abuse, alcoholism, mental health care, and other systems associated with target population.
* You have a strong ability to advocate effectively on behalf of low-income and/or homeless clients/participants.
* You have a Bachelor’s degree in social services, or have two (2) years of relevant social services experience.
* You are experienced in the delivery of social services to homeless and/or low-income individuals.
* You have demonstrated abilities in management of multiple projects and priorities essential.
* A valid California Driver License is required, along with current automobile and liability insurance with reliable transportation.
* If you have bilingual fluency in English/Spanish, that is *a plus!*

*Salary starts at $21.00 per hour, commensurate upon combined, related experience, educational level and bilingual fluency.*
