As a faith-based organization, QueensCare provides, directly and in collaboration with others, accessible quality healthcare for low-income individuals and families residing in Los Angeles County.

QueensCare is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization originally founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Sacred Heart, whose mission of compassion and accessible healthcare continues today. QueensCare provides screening, treatment, education, and preventive and direct care to Los Angeles area residents in need. Beyond that, we also give charitable grants to other non-profits making a difference in the City of Angels and fund scholarships for those entering medical fields with an interest in working in underserved communities.

About the role

Under the direct supervision of the Community Health Manager (CHM), the Community Nurse Supervisor (CNS) will oversee, and coordinate nursing care provided to patients at the individual, family, community, and systems level, in the Los Angeles community. The CNS will be responsible for managing a team of nurses, providing supervision and clinical guidance to the nurses, ensuring adherence to healthcare protocols, and promoting patient well-being through effective leadership and clinical expertise. The Nurse supervisor will support the CHM with clinical oversight of program functioning. 

What you’ll do

Clinical Support

  • Provides supervision and clinical guidance to nursing staff, including mentoring, and professional development.
  • Serves as a resource for nursing staff regarding clinical issues, patient care protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements to nursing practices and procedures to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. 
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives and contributes to organizational goals and objectives. 
  • Ensures that nursing staff maintain current proficiency in non-diagnostic screenings and laboratory equipment usage, in accordance with the Department of Public Health and LA County guidance, by means of the American Proficiency Institute.
  • Responsible for managing and ensuring the accurate recording of refrigerator temperature logs to maintain proper temperature control for vaccine. 
  • Manages the electronic health record system MyTurn for vaccine administration and record-keeping. This includes creating vaccine clinics, managing usernames and passwords, and generating clinic reports, among other responsibilities. 
  • Responsible for managing vaccine orders and returns to and from the county. 
  • Ensures adherence to infection control policies and procedures to maintain a safe and sanitary environment for patients and staff.
  • Reviews and develops clinical policies to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Supports CHM in gathering clinical documents required for Non-Diagnostic Certificate and CLIA License for application renewal. 
  • Collaborates with the Administrative Assistant to ensure timely scheduling of sharps pickups and equipment calibration. 
  • Provides crisis intervention when required.
  • Provides support at partnered locations as needed, delivering patient care in the community and documenting services using the Penelope electronic health record system. 
  • Facilitates and participates in Health Cabinet meetings.
  • Collaborate with other programs and community organizations to provide links to services and enhance service delivery.  
  • Travels daily or frequently to various partner sites within Los Angeles County.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Attends training and educational sessions as required.
  • Must be willing and able to work all business hours including evenings and weekends to attend health fairs/events as needed.  
  • Must be willing and able to work at all locations as needed.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred. 
  • Current unrestricted registered nurse (RN) licenses in California. 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience working with adults, children, and families from diverse social, cultural, educational, and economic backgrounds.  
  • A minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, including experience in community health or public health-related roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role. 
  • Experience with the development, administration, and management of staff competencies.
  • Experience in quality management within community healthcare clinical settings, with a focus on assessing and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of a care delivery system for both patients and staff.  
  • Current CPR certification. 
  • Experience working with faith communities and demonstrates spiritual maturity. 

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of community health nursing practices. 
  • Knowledgeable about community resources appropriate to the needs of community members.
  • Promotion of process improvement.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in computer applications such as Zoom, Teams, Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook, MyTurn, EHR- Penelope preferably, and CAIR.

SKILLS:

  • Works well with children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail to manage administrative tasks efficiently. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact compassionately with patients of diverse backgrounds. 
  • Understands which decisions can be made alone and which decisions need to involve others.
  • Demonstrates a self-directed mature, disciplined, and tactful approach to fulfilling job duties.
  • Demonstrates ability and flexibility to work in other areas of the organization as needed. 
  • Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both oral and written, preferably bilingual (Spanish- oral).

The pay range for this role is:
101,635.80 – 147,706.65 USD per year(QueensCare Corporate Headquarters)
