Marine Judge Advocate

An attorney serving as a Marine Judge Advocate is a commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps executing the following duties:

In prosecution: bringing felonies and misdemeanors to courts martial as a first chair.

In defense: upholding constitutional protections.

As a Staff Judge Advocate: advising commanders and generals while at home or deployed.

In legal assistance: providing legal advice on matters related to family, consumer, tax, estate, and immigration law.

In civil law: ensuring compliance with federal statutes and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • U.S. citizen
  • 20-36 years of age (waivers are approved on a case-by-case basis).
  • Medically qualified through the Marine Corps.
  • Student of an ABA approved law school OR if you are a graduate of an ABA approved law school you must be awaiting BAR results / admitted to the highest court of any U.S. state, commonwealth, territory, or the District of Columbia.
