This Cook position is responsible for performing a variety of duties relevant to the retail food service operations in the cafeteria.Tasks include setting up service lines, pre-plating foods, preparation of meals, cooking, working the grill, omelet, and stir-fry station, and serving customers. You will also be responsible for: * Reviewing menus, production sheets, recipes and tallied items to verify needs for the day. * Bake, roast, grill, boil and steam meat, fish, vegetables and other foods as required. * Clean, peel, cut, slice, dice, weigh and measure ingredients for recipes as required. * Plate and/or garnish food for attractive presentation. This is a “as needed” per diem part-time role; work hours and schedule can vary. This position may be required to work in multiple UCLA Health sites such as Westwood and Santa Monica. May convert to Career. Salary range: $22.64-$22.64 Hourly


Qualifications

* ServSafe or equivalent safe food handling credentials. * Experience cooking in a professional setting. * Knowledge and experience with fry grills, knives, meat slicers, steam cookers, ovens, food choppers, and food mixers. * Ability to work in a standing position for a long period of time; stretch,bend, walk, stoop and reach repetitively. * Ability to work in hot, cold, and/or wet areas. * Ability to lift 50+ lbs; push and/or pull 350+ lbs. * Ability to conform to dress code. * Ability to use strong cleaning solutions. * Ability to read, write, and comprehend standard English. * Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with co-workers,customers, supervisors and managers. * Ability to travel to multiple UCLA Health sites.
