The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Software Chief Architect in El Segundo, CA. 

This position will work within the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) group and specifically the Space Mission Systems Software group.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Independent technical Subject Matter Expert developing complex software architecture for unique, first-in-type satellite systems
  • Lead development and documentation of satellite-wide software requirements and software interfaces for open-ended mission profiles
  • Direct/Define Software Development and Verification Plans in order to deliver high-assurance, certified flight software
  • Ensure compliance with all Software Quality, Product Security, and Enterprise Design Practices throughout the software lifecycle
  • Resolve complex and seamless software interactions between satellite bus, power and thermal systems, communications and encryption, command and data handling, guidance and navigation, autonomous intelligence, ground control, mission operations, and systems redundancies
  • Author tech-volumes and advise proposal activities across multiple product lines
  • Advise program customers on system-level architecture; establish and maintain frequent and open communication with key stakeholders
  • Lead geographically-diverse business partners through integration of developmental software products into El Segundo satellite architectures
  • Serve as consultant to El Segundo Software leadership team in long-range planning for technology research and advancement, critical to driving and obtaining future business
  • Provide leadership and positive mentorship to early career team members as Software Team grows by planned 12+ FTEs

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location option.

This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).  (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical degree
  • 14+ years demonstrated ability in software architecture and design of embedded software systems
  • 10 + years proven experience with software requirements, design, development, integration, and testing
  • Experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, and MATLAB
  • Experience using Gitlab
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 9+ years of experience designing and developing software for a real time or non-real-time system
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle that includes requirements analysis through Formal Qualification

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:

Level 6 – $185,300 – $250,700
