Accounting Trade Analyst

The Accounting Analyst will assist in the day-to-day execution, compliance and resolution around retailer trade promotion, slotting, and tools used within the business. Reduce cost to serve by identifying saving opportunities across retailer trade, fees, repays and collections. This individual will report to the Corporate Controller. This is a hybrid position located in Downtown Los Angeles (3 days in office/2 days remote).

Key Responsibilities

Maintaining and developing strong partnerships with Accounting, Accounts Receivable, customer service, logistics/warehouse team, Trade Department, Sales, and external Brokers.
Analysis of non-working trade, IE vendor compliance, spoils, etc.
Accurate classification between slotting, non-working trade and working trade.
Managing all aspects other receivables trade spend. Filing new cases, following up on already filed cases, communicating effectively about the origin of the deduction, and working with the departments to reduce new instances of the same deduction through collaboration and effective collaboration.
Review deduction detail to make sure supporting documents are uploaded into NetSuite and proper descriptions are included in the deduction detail.
Communicates account information to internal and external partners to resolve complex issues or to secure payment and financial recovery of invalid deductions.
Becoming an expert in several different data management systems: NetSuite, PowerBI, and Vividly.
Completing ad hoc requests, as needed.
Create weekly reporting for Accounting, Logistics, exec level team for non-working trade, slotting and working trade.
Audit & evaluate all audit charges from customers.
Work with sales to help understand debit balances for any customer in a debit balance.
Weekly progress updates on Other Receivables with the goal of reclaiming >75% of the claims in other receivables & reduce aging other receivables by 50%.
Provide any support to the broader AR and accounting department as needed.
Support Internal and external audit with document requests and ensure documentation provided is accurate and complete.

Key systems: NetSuite, PowerBI, Excel, Vividly, and MS Teams.
When in Manufacturing environment:
All State and Federal food manufacturing laws, food safety requirements, good manufacturing practices (GMPs) and other standard industry manufacturing practices must be adhered to at all times.
All USDA organic processor practices must be adhered to at all times.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education / Certification Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics

Work Experience Requirements

Must be able to commute to our DTLA office and San Bernardino as needed.
Two or more years of Experience in Finance/Accounting, Trade Marketing or Deduction Management, preferably within the CPG industry and across multiple channels and product segments.

An understanding of the accounting around receivables.
Someone who is highly analytical and has a strong drive towards continuous improvement.
Strong verbal/written and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to work with and communicate at all levels of staff and management.
Self-Starter: must have ability to work independently and proactively, but seamlessly transition into team collaborative environment.
Strong aptitude for numbers with the ability to calculate amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
Ability to work internally and externally to resolve disputes and inaccurate deductions.
Highly detail-oriented and especially accurate in performing tasks and cross-checking work.
Excellent project management skills.
Strong finance and analytical skills required.
Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for pivot tables, spreadsheet development, and automation.
Experience with a Trade Promotion Management System is a plus.

Computer and Technology Capability Requirements:

Advanced functionality in Excel.
Advanced in ERP systems, preferably NetSuite

Pay Range: $65,000 to $90,000
