Investment Finance Specialist, VP

An Investment Finance (IF) Specialist is an experienced Lending Product specialist and Credit Officer within the Investment Finance business. The core product set includes capital contribution loans, tailored term loans and unsecured lines of credit for the individual clients. The IF Specialist is required to have strong underwriting skills and sound credit judgment. Activities will include the successful structuring, documenting, closing and monitoring of credit facilities in a controlled environment. Duties will also include maximizing team efficiency through episodic special projects.

The position supports the Law Firm Group business within Citi Private Bank (CPB) by specializing in the delivery of structured loan products. The IF Specialist within the Law Firm Group (LFG) underwrites a broad range of credit products targeted toward equity partners of private partnerships. The structured loan product is the basis for establishing an on-going relationship with such professionals, and complements the other origination efforts undertaken by Private Banking team.

Review credit request for new standard/program loans for compliance with product program and core credit policies.
Underwrite and structure loans within established risk acceptance criteria, demonstrating appropriate risk-return characteristics.
Negotiate documentation, including obtaining external counsel opinion. Ensure execution of transactions in accordance to agreed documents.
Maintain high level of unit productivity by ensuring timely turnaround.
Demonstrate superior partnering skills with key stakeholders across all LFG offices in the US and UK.
Responsible for strict adherence to the CPB compliance/regulatory framework.
Provide on-going reporting and assessment of the credit quality and economic performance of the portfolio.
Work with other Credit Officers to resolve/eliminate exceptions across the portfolio.
During annual review process, monitor the client’s compliance with terms and conditions associated with previously approved facilities.
Responsible for the early problem recognition process and must propose, when deemed appropriate, credit classification and appropriate risk rating on specific transactions/ relationships.
Participation in remedial management actions as required.
Increase operating efficiency by employing systemic enhancements to existing manual processes.
Partner with the Loan Operations and Documentation Control centers to leverage best practices. Foster strong working relationships to enhance/improve service delivery to our clients.

The position offers the unique opportunity to own a business process from end-to-end, specializing in each stage of the transaction from origination, through structuring and approval, to execution and revenue reporting. As a member of a young and expanding business, there will be opportunity to develop new products suitable for the target market client base. The analytical and credit skills are applicable in any commercial banking setting.

Knowledge:

Strong and proven analytical, financial structuring and execution skills

Strong marketing skills

3 – 5 years’ experience as a Credit Officer

Broad knowledge of Citibank’s Credit Policies

Broad knowledge of financial markets, investments, banking and loan products

Financial Accounting and cash flow modelling

Skills:
Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines

Good negotiation skills

Strong initiative and interactive approach to problem solving

Displays flexibility and independence in a demanding environment
