Intimate locally-inspired Santa Barbara restaurant is looking for a talented Chef de Cuisine. Great opportunity for a Chef that enjoys sourcing local product, working with the best ingredients, and flexing their creative muscle. Past experience in respected chef-driven restaurants required. Dinner only and a solid team with low turnover.
Chef de Cuisine Responsibilities:
- Menu development, R&D, recipe costingÂ
- Sourcing and utilizing ingredients with an emphasis on local to SB/SLO/Ventura counties, where possible
- Hiring, training, and mentorship of culinary team members
- Culinary administrative responsibilities pertaining to financials, ordering, inventory, scheduling, etc
- Ensuring best practices for safety and sanitation in the kitchen
- Communicate with vendors regarding ordering, new product offerings, pricing, and all other product-related issue
Chef de Cuisine Preferred Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in a similar position as Executive Chef or open to an up-and-comer with 3 years experience as a Senior Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef, or Chef de Cuisine
- California cuisine background and knowledgeable on the seasonal patterns of CA
- Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities
- Creative, innovative thinking
- Exceptional standards for cleanliness, health, and safety
- Experience in managing inventory and cost controls
- Flexible schedule, including weekends, and on holidays
