HomeState is currently hiring for the position of Assistant Catering Operations Manager!

THE FINE PRINT //

As Assistant Catering Operations Manager, you’ll assist in overseeing the day-to-day operations of HomeState’s Catering & Special Events program and will help lead the teams responsible for booking orders and executing catering orders and on-site events. The Assistant Catering Operations Manager reports to the Catering Operations Manager.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES//

GUEST SERVICE

Foster and promote HomeState’s culture and mission while upholding service standards.
Monitor, measure, respond and correct any guest incidents with warmth and hospitality.
Coach, guide, develop and support your team to provide exceptional guest experience.
Fully understand and exhibit the HomeState ethos, embodying our core values and mission, and serve as an ambassador both internally and externally.

HUMAN RESOURCES AND TRAINING DEVELOPMENT

Assist with staff development and succession planning. Provide ongoing feedback, establish performance expectations and conduct performance reviews.
Assist with department hiring, including interviewing, training and progressive counseling.
Manage team environment and provide timely response to team needs.
Maintain 100% compliance with all relevant policies, EEO, labor, HR, wage and food safety laws and regulations.
Manage staff incentive including, but not limited to, programs such as employee of the month or internal contests.

OPERATIONS

Ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the Catering & Special Events program.
Oversee the order booking process, including the organization and response to all inquiries, emails and phone calls in a timely manner. Create and develop event proposals and guide potential guests through the booking process.
Lead the team responsible for executing catering orders and on-site events, including the planning and preparation processes.
Work collaboratively with the management teams at the catering hub locations to ensure catering activities are integrated efficiently in the locations’ operations.
Meet regularly with the management teams at the hub locations to review previous orders and events and provide information, needs and expectations for upcoming orders and events.
Work with the kitchen and service teams at non-hub locations to ensure that all catering orders are executed in line with HomeState’s SOPs for catering orders.
Oversee the routine maintenance and cleaning of all catering delivery vehicles.
Collaborate and communicate with internal HomeState departments to ensure catering operations are efficiently and effectively integrated in the company’s general operations.
Attend and lead manager meetings and participate in routine leadership calls. Actively engage in the agenda and transition action items to positively impact program performance and culture.
Requirements:
2-3 years experience in the restaurant industry, preferably in a management and/or event/catering sales capacity
Passion for food, hospitality, and providing an exemplary guest experience
Personable & assertive customer service
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
Ability to execute and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Ability to maintain a strong working knowledge of restaurant POS systems, event management systems, and Google Drive
Must be available to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, with weekend availability and with an occasional sixth day required
Manager Food Safety certification
Responsible Beverage Service certification
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to work in a standing or sitting position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours excluding breaks)
Ability to lift 25+ pounds
