American Heritage Credit Union, a $4 billion credit union, has an immediate opening for a Staff Accountant.
This position follows detailed and standardized procedures in performing routine accounting operations for American Heritage Credit Union and its CUSO’s.
Performs a variety of support duties related to the accounting function within the credit union.
Perform tasks necessary to balance and update general ledger and subsidiary accounts and manage other accounting duties as assigned by Controller.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:Analyze and prepare general ledger reconciliations for various accounts.Research and adjust all open items, cash imbalances, or variances.Prepare and enter various general ledger entries.Analyze financial reports and records making studies or recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.Funds transfer management to include balance monitoring, funds transfer and settlement.Mortgage processing to include recording mortgage settlements, inventory activity and sales.Mortgage report preparation, administration, maintenance, and distribution including mortgage summaries, loan sales, Investor Reports, and Raddon Mortgages via Excel.Operational settlements and administration as assigned, but not limited to Shared Branching, ACH, MasterCard, Share Draft, and ATM settlements.Financial report preparation and distribution as assigned.Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.Instructs or assigns work to bookkeepers, accounting clerks and other employees engaged in general accounting activities.Prepares income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements and reports.Conducts special studies and develops or recommends accounting methods and procedures.QUALIFICATIONS:Three years to five years of similar or related experience.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.At least three years of experience in an accounting position required.
Work requires extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
