Developing and implementing activity programs which are appropriate to the residents based on varied backgrounds, emotional needs and interestsAssisting the Activities Director with an evaluation of each resident according to their backgrounds, activity interests, abilities, physical limitations and need for meaningful activity programs Documenting activity plans and progress notes as directedWorking closely with the Activities Director to plan and set up each assigned activity, which includes gathering supplies re-arranging roomsAssisting in the development and distribution of monthly activity calendars to residents and posting these calendars throughout the facilityAssisting in the development and maintenance of facility newslettersComplying with safety requirements, infection control measures, and maintaining a clean work environment in accordance with facility policy Qualifications: Activities Assistant QualificationsMust possess a High School Diploma or GEDKnowledge on the use of personal computers, e-mail accounts, software programs such as Word and ExcelHave a thorough understanding of the principles of best Activities practicesPatience, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm and willingness to handle residents based on whatever maturity and physical level in which they are currently functioningThe ability to be discrete and protect the integrity of confidential information and stay within Corporate Compliance and HIPAA Experience in long-term care is preferred
