The Position: The Dean of the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Working closely with students, faculty, and staff in a tradition of collegial shared governance, the Dean provides academic leadership for the College. The incumbent is responsible for faculty and staff recruitment, retention, and development. Student success is a top priority for the institution, and the Dean is charged with leading all student success efforts in the College. The Dean supports and leads all School development efforts, including those related to private donations, corporate sponsorship, and grants and contracts activity.

At a time when the institution is prioritizing investment in faculty success as a key component of student success, the ability to diversify revenue, promote more grants and contracts, and increase research, scholarship, and creative activity output will be an important responsibility for the Dean. All of these efforts support the effective use of human, fiscal, and physical resources at the institution. The Dean is responsible for informed, evidence-based decision-making and progress towards all graduation and retention metrics for the College. The Dean plays a critically important role as a leader in Academic Affairs, serving on University academic leadership teams and representing the College in all University matters. The Dean also is responsible for leading efforts to hire diverse faculty and staff and for developing and articulating the College s role in supporting the broader strategic direction of the University. The Dean furthermore plays an important role in leading efforts to promote educational strategies that support quality, innovation, the use of technology in teaching and learning and provides oversight in compliance with accreditation standards and reporting. The Dean oversee resources, scheduling, and other operational areas in conjunction with the College Administrative team and plays a role in fundraising and development for the College.

The Dean also represents the College in the broader community through active leadership in the development of activities that further the mission of the College, the University, and the community. The Dean represents the institution through community and business organizations to further the mission of the University and the economic and cultural vitality of the region. The Dean also has oversight responsibility for Centers and Institutes operating within the College, and for grant and contract activity undertaken by College faculty. In addition, the Dean often represents the College and the University at the California State University system level.

Required Qualifications & Experience: An earned terminal degree from an accredited university in the field related to engineering, computer science, or technology. An excellent record of teaching, scholarship, and service at the university-level with accomplishments to warrant appointment at the rank of tenured full professor within an existing department of the college. A record of progressive leadership experience in academic administration that includes strategic planning and communication, shared governance, and consultative decision-making, personnel management (faculty and staff), resource management and quality academic programming and delivery. Demonstrated ability to support student success in undergraduate and graduate programs, including experience with students who are among the first generation in their families to attend college. Demonstrated ability to create an inclusive and effective working environment amongst ethnically, racially, and culturally diverse faculty, staff, and students. Demonstrated interest and/or ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. Demonstrated interest and ability to work in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Demonstrated ability to: engage with the community, including feeder institutions for the undergraduate and graduate programs, professionals in industry and other organizations essential to a vibrant college; plan for and manage resources to support the college and its departments and programs; and to model and to lead in the areas of teaching, scholarship and service to the university

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. A comprehensive benefits package is provided.

Appointment: The Administrator IV appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan.
