The AARP South Dakota Team is looking for you Our team creates and executes various events and projects to improve the lives of people as they age and help to build a better tomorrow for future generations.

This paid internship has an anticipated start date of June of 2022 and will go through the end of the year.

Responsibilities: Assist with event and project managementCollaborate with staff on local policies impacting members, including writing emails and developing surveys to gather informationAssist with the recruitment of volunteers for community-based activitiesSupport the communications and outreach teamAbility to interact with a diverse group of individuals with varied backgrounds and goals (volunteers, community leaders, partner organizations, vendors, and multicultural backgrounds)Communicate AARP resources with target audiences via email, phone, social media, in-person, etc.Serve as a representative of AARP at community-sponsored activities and/or virtual events Qualifications: Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education programMust be a self-starter and adaptable with the ability to work under tight deadlines Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate project needs, and discern work prioritiesAbility to work well with diverse populations, including gender, race, and sexual orientationTechnical proficiency in Microsoft Office programs Exceptional verbal/written communications skills Familiarity with creating and editing videos and knowledge of multiple social media platforms is a plusIn-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise Compensation and BenefitsThe hourly range is $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, $28 for Ph.D.

Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions.

Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
