As a Physician Assistant the Job Duties would include:
• Surgical Physician Assistant works under the supervision of the attending physician to assess, manage and evaluate the surgical patient during the peri-operative period.
The PA-C provides technical 1st and 2nd assistance for surgical procedures.
• Applies surgical processes in all facets of the first assistant role.
• Displays knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the human body while delivering safe patient care.
• Establishes and maintains a safe peri-operative environment.
• Offers education development opportunities to nursing staff, students and any other appropriate persons in the specific surgery and patient management.
• Utilizes ongoing data collection peri-operatively, and follow-up information to aid in research care studies that promote effectiveness and quality of patient care Qualified candidates will possess:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Open Heart Surgery
• Current Maryland PA, DEA, and CDS License
• NCCPA certification
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
