Food Service Manager

Bacetti Trattoria in Echo Park seeks a Floor Manager to oversee daily service and join our existing management team. We are a busy neighborhood restaurant offering Roman-inspired Italian fare and natural wine. Our wine bar Tilda operates adjacent to Bacetti and shares some staff and infrastructure. We currently offer dinner service six days a week (Tuesday to Sunday); with the addition of a Floor Manager we plan to expand our dinner service to seven days.

The Floor Manager will be the public face of the restaurant during service, interacting with guests, providing hospitality, overseeing staff, ensuring steps of service are maintained, and resolving any customer service issues that may arise.

Specific job responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining high standards of service and conduct among staff members and ensuring SOPs are followed
  • Displaying warmth and hospitality, building rapport with guests, touching tables, and developing repeat customers
  • Acting as manager on duty, opening manager, and/or closing manager as needed
  • Being proactive about potential problems during service and making appropriate interventions
  • Maintaining complete knowledge of our menu, wine list, and house policies
  • Updating and printing menus
  • Ensuring a clean and orderly facility
  • Assisting in training new Front of House hires
  • Working with Beverage Manager to develop personal wine knowledge and sales techniques
  • Working with General Manager to develop strategies to meet weekly and monthly sales goals
  • Filling in as needed when short staffed
  • Ensuring staff opening and closing sidework is consistently completed
  • Relaying any HR issues to the General Manager
  • Collaborating with the rest of the management team on ways to improve our service and SOPs

Previous experience as a server is required, and additional experience hosting, expediting, bartending, or managing is welcome. The successful candidate will have an eye for detail and consistency, a knack for hospitality, and the ability to make genuine connections with customers and staff members.

The Floor Manager will report to the General Manager and will be part of a management team that consists of the GM, Beverage Manager, Chef, Sous Chef, and ownership.

The compensation package for this role consists of a salary of $60,000 per annum, 12 paid vacation days per annum, health insurance with monthly premium fully paid by the company after 90 days of employment, sick time, and dining discounts. This is a full-time, exempt position and employment is at-will.
