Overview:The Operations Manager is responsible for managing daily activities of all operators and coordinates the activities of supervisors and dispatch personnel.
Oversees scheduling of operators; monitors operations andcoordinates delivery of service with superiors.
The Operations Manager will also work closely with the maintenance department to ensure that all operation requirements are met.Responsibilities:Track, compile and analyze performance; handle interdepartmental issues; resolve employee issuesand grievances; improve processes and route schedulingMakes hiring decisions for authorized roles; evaluates the work performance of staff; ensures the timely and efficient completion of all assigned tasksAssists in accident/incident investigation, including any needed on-site assistance and support to safety and training personnelCoordinates with the safety and training department to ensure all safety goals and directives are metParticipates in Operations department budget processMay operate a vehicle in revenue service, if necessaryMaintains confidentiality of all informationQualifications:EDUCATION, LICENSING, AND CERTIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, requiredEXPERIENCE REQUIRED:Minimum three (3) years of operations experience in a fixed route operation, or airport shuttle service of similar size and scopeSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:Thorough knowledge of basic provincial laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the transit operationThorough knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departmentsWorking knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and relevant database programsGood written and oral communication skillsAbility to organize and perform work efficiently; strong attention to detailsAbility to work effectively with labor; may include labor grievances and negotiationsMust be willing to work flexible hours to include weekends and holidaysTravel requirement: < 5% travel for occasional meetingsAbout Transdev: Based near Chicago, Transdev is the largest private-sector operator of multiple modes of transit in North America, including bus, rail, streetcar, paratransit, and shuttle services.
