Litigation Paralegal

Law firm is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join their Los Angeles office.

We seek an individual with at least 5-10 years litigation paralegal experience. This position will report to the Director of Administration, the Senior Paralegal Coordinator and the Director of Legal Practice Support. This is a non-exempt position. An undergraduate degree is preferred but not required.

Proficiency in Windows 10, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, Relativity, Lexis and Westlaw are preferred.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

AT THE COMMENCEMENT OF AN ACTION:

  • Organize pleadings, legal, subject and issue files electronically
  • Create and maintain databases for case and document management
  • Assist with preparation of exhibits for briefs
  • Cite-check and Shepardize briefs and legal memoranda
  • Organize, analyze, and index documents and exhibits
  • Trace documents and search records for relevant information
  • Prepare cast of characters and chronology of events

DURING THE DISCOVERY PROCESS:

  • Organize and supervise document productions in conjunction with our Associate Director of Litigation Support
  • Coordinate in and out-of-town depositions
  • Organization of documents for use at depositions, witness binders
  • Organize, summarize, and index deposition transcripts and exhibits

DURING PRE-TRIAL PREPARATION:

  • Organize and prepare witness files and trial notebooks
  • Create and maintain trial exhibit and deposition designation databases
  • Supervise preparation of trial exhibits and demonstrative exhibits

AT TRIAL:

  • Oversee logistical preparation
  • Assist in preparation of motions in limine and other trial briefs
  • Attend and assist at trial
  • Collect and organize documents for use of examination and defense of witnesses
  • Identify and track exhibits offered and entered at trial
  • Create and maintain trial transcript and trial exhibit databases

AFTER TRIAL:

  • Assist with preparation of post-trial briefs
  • Organize case files for use in appellate proceedings, if applicable
  • Supervise collection, indexing, and storage of case files and attorney working files
