The Client Solutioning team within Client Onboarding and Digital Capabilities (CODC) is designed to add strategic focus on early, critical stages of the sales and account development opportunity cycle with both existing and prospective customers via specialized content, convenient services, and high touch solutions.

The Manager
– Bid/RFP Proposal Writer/Consultant is a seasoned professional role that will deliver consultative partnership to GCS Sales and Client Management in the creation of Request for Proposal (RFP) and Client presentations spanning the Client lifecycle (acquisition, expansion, cross-sell, and retention).

The core role includes the consultation, planning, delivery, and execution of winning strategies that communicate GCS value and competitive differentiation.

Evaluates moderately complex and variable issues with substantial potential impact, where development of an approach/taking of an action involves weighing various alternatives and balancing potentially conflicting situations using multiple sources of information.

Requires good analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic material from multiple sources.

Excellent communication and diplomacy skills are required.

Regularly assumes informal/formal leadership role within teams.

Involved in coaching and training of new recruits.

This is a non-external client facing role.

The position reports into a Proposal Director, based in the U.S.

Responsibilities: Providing consultative partnership in the planning, development, and delivery of compliant, targeted, value driven communication documents for Large Market and Global accounts and prospects headquartered around the world Working closely with Business Development and Client Management to assess customer needs and develop and execute winning strategies Leading the proposal process from planning and research to developing customized bid responses and presentations with strategic value messaging Project management ensuring customer deadlines are met Leveraging the Global Commercial Services Value Proposition to differentiate American Express offerings Managing across global time zones and cross-cultural collaboration Ensure adequate and timely use of global processes, such as use of salesforce.com and effective use of Onboarding Solutions Policy and Procedures Participate and help develop continuous improvement of processes and tools to contribute to the execution against strategic priorities Strong consultative, collaborative and influencing skills across all levels Ability to drive strategy, goal alignment and execution to deliver results; exceptional will to win Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the companys reputation, and safeguarding our business, clients, and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing, and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications Qualifications: 5-8 years of Bid/RFP experience in the commercial payments industry (highly preferred) Innovative thought leadership and ability to work in a highly matrixed environment, demonstrating ability to proactively analyze business problems and work across teams and regions to develop business solutions Strategic and analytical thinking, including proven ability to link client needs (individually and holistically) to internal and marketplace solutions Business writing and communications excellence (internal and client-facing), specifically the ability to formulate and convey a strategy and other information in a clear, concise, and visually appealing manner Business-to-business sales/marketing and client management processes, including exposure to RFPs (Bids/Tenders) and Best and Finals Knowledge of the evolving commercial card payment solution value propositions and financial dynamics of the commercial card business Knowledge of the competition and corporate marketplace Ability to synthesize information and data to create compelling, professional, and customized client-facing messaging focused on communicating value and highlighting competitive differentiation in a compliant manner Excellent planning skills: ability to manage complex projects in an environment of changing priorities, applying a rigorous planning approach Organization and ensuring high attention to quality and detail Team player.
