Sr. Mechanical Engineer

Description: Completes all design engineering work and projects that are aligned and prioritized with current company product and market strategies.

Generates 3D Solidworks parts and assemblies for new, modified or product maintenance, including populating properties, assigning P/Ns and descriptions Checks in files to and out of EPDM Generates ECO packages on new and revised designs Generates Solidworks drawings as appropriate Provides direction to documentation personnel and as required checks documentation to company and industry documentation standards and practices Provides support to production personnel with regards to design and construction of product Supports Manufacturing Engineering with prototypes and first articles Provides rework support and troubleshooting Interfaces with suppliers and customers to adequately convey product design when required Performs Project Lead/Management on multi discipline projects that are predominantly mechanical in scope Provides leadership and technical support for projects that analyze existing and new products to identify, plan and implement design/functional changes that reduce systemic costs and increase the economic value.

Provides analysis of VAVE project economic value, work through budget and resource requirements, and charter projects from concept through execution and closure.

Works effectively with cross-functional teams that includes Sales, Service, Operations (manufacturing, document control and procurement), Product Management and Finance.

Executes projects within the constraints of budget, timeline, resource constraints, and project performance requirements Understands and works within the NPD (new product development) and SEP (Small engineering projects) processes.

Provides stakeholders with timely updates on project status and performance vs.

goals.

Additional Skills & Qualifications: Proficient in mechanical engineering and design of electromechanical systems, including material selection, mechanical load analysis, motion control, environmental (thermal load, vibration management, reliability), dimensioning and tolerancing, manufacturing methods, costing, and testing Demonstrated design experience for electromechanical, electrooptical or general instrumentation related industrial and/or medical use products Proficient in creating and interpreting mechanical drawings in ANSI and ISO standards Proficient in Solidworks, most recent version Proficient in Product Data Management software (Enterprise PDM preferred) Knowledgeable in modifying AutoCAD files Proficient in MS Office Suite Excellent communication skills both written and oral with the ability to communicate at the employee, manager and upper management levels Ability to work independently, including remote, as well as in a team environment periodically General business acumen to understand and prepare a project business case in support of proposed changes, which include evaluations against traditional business metrics such as NPV and ROI, and deliver to management and other stakeholders About Actalent: Actalent connects passion with purpose.
