Job Duties:
The Administrative Assistant will provide front office support to the pediatric primary and multi-specialty care practice at Children’s Health Center, Westwood. You will perform the functions of encounter registration, insurance verification, cashiering, referral authorization and appointment scheduling along with other duties. The incumbent will also provide administrative support to the practice providers.

Required:
Demonstrated experience in organizing and defining tasks, setting priorities, working independently, and following through with minimal direction in order to perform effectively under conditions of frequent interruptions, fluctuating workloads, and conflicting time demands.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential material with discretion.
Demonstrated ability to screen incoming phone calls in order to assess urgency of requests.
Strong problem-solving skills and demonstrated ability to initiate, monitor, and complete tasks, including those not explicitly assigned or intrinsic to achieve specific goals.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft and Windows computer platforms and proficiency in the use of computer programs, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, e-mail programs, web browsers, and Adobe Acrobat.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and updated files containing a variety of documents relating to the patient’s care.
Excellent verbal and written English language skills to complete correspondence and reports with appropriate spelling, grammar, and format.
Working knowledge of patient related policies and procedures as well as a thorough understanding of the University system and its services and programs.
Demonstrated typing skills of 45 WPM
Skill in recognizing an emergency or high priority situation and taking appropriate and immediate action.
Ability to maintain composure when confronted with difficult situations and respond professionally.
Ability to work as part of a team, maintaining confidentiality in all assignments, and show initiative in identifying and solving problems as they occur.
Preferred:
Demonstrated knowledge in electronic medical record, preferably EPIC.
Knowledge of the policies and procedures of third party payors, including Medi-Cal and California Children’s Services.
General knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-10 coding, preferred.
Bilingual, English/Spanish, written and oral communication.
