Therapeutic Area Strategies (TAS) is responsible for devising and implementing comprehensive government affairs strategies that drive therapeutic area (TA) specific policy initiatives to remove barriers to access and promote above brand policy solutions that improve or maintain access across the AbbVie portfolio.

The position will serve as the liaison between the U.S.

Government Affairs (GA) and the U.S.

immunology commercial organization.

In this capacity, the Director of U.S.

Therapeutic Area Strategies will 1) identify opportunities to advance Government Affairs strategies to support TA or above brand objectives, 2) ensure GA colleagues are aware of critical business drivers, challenges and developments related to the immunology portfolio and 3) collaborate with GA partners to provide relevant policy related insights or advocacy updates with the U.S.

immunology organization.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities Become an expert in the drivers of the U.S.

immunology business, including above brand and TA specific drivers, and leverage that expertise to identify opportunities for GA to support TA and above brand objectives.

Serve as the Government Affairs designated partner for the U.S.

immunology brand teams.

Support the brands by developing strategies to shape public policies in order to positively impact patient access.

Manage and work with vendors to develop comprehensive advocacy strategies employing all relevant government affairs tools including lobbying, third party engagement, think tank partnerships, and public affairs campaigns.

Manage budget to ensure the appropriate policy, public affairs and government relations resources are dedicated to solving on the company’s most critical above brand and TA specific public policy issues.

Initiate, develop and maintain relationships with third party stakeholders focused on establishing trust with our partners and co-developing strategies to achieve common goals.

Educate the GA organization and the GA Leadership Team about the primary business drivers and challenges.

Provide strategic insights on business developments and trends to inform the Government Affairs annual strategic planning process.

Collaborate with the global TAS team members to share insights to inform strategies stretching across the globe.

Align with U.S.

Federal and State Government Affairs teams and U.S.

Policy and Analytics in providing on-going advice and guidance to the commercial immunology organization on policy and political developments that directly impact the business.

Collaborate with U.S.

Federal and State Government Affairs teams and U.S.

Policy and Analytics to develop strategic communications on policy and advocacy developments in the U.S.

impacting the immunology business.
