Performs precision optical inspection, including occasional alignment, assembly and test tasks. May perform optical measurement and characterization of lasers and optical filters, and set-ups of laser and optics test apparatus.Duties and Responsibilities:+ Perform manufacturing inspection, assembly and test operations in a production environment+ Complete manufacturing, test, and experiment documentation+ Support of engineering and manufacturing engineering personnel as required Education and Work Experience:High school, AA or equivalent with some experience working with precision assembly, inspection, and testing tasks. Familiarity with optical and/or electrical test/inspection equipment in a research, product development or manufacturing environment preferred. Ideal candidate would have a year or more work experience in working with small optical components and/or fiber optic components (or other miniature parts), and familiarity with electronic and optical test and measurement equipment (microscopes, optical power meters, wavelength meters, current/voltmeters).Experience doing fine mechanical work a plus as the job entails working with very small components , often under a microscope. Must have knowledge of basic math and algebra, and basic computer skills. Must be able to follow written procedures as well as verbal instructions and fill out test and manufacturing paperwork. This job will require extensive training and candidate must have good learning and communication skills.
