Summer Instructors will have the unique opportunity to participate in the development of our exciting new Counselor in Training (CIT) program.
In this role, you will support this program to provide widely applicable leadership skills and camp-specific job training to young adults from 7th -10th grade.
CIT Instructors will interact deeply with their curriculum
– planning ahead, reflecting daily, viewing improvements as opportunities, and providing feedback for the further development of the CIT program.

Position Description
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare for and deliver Galileo curriculum daily to groups of up to 15 CITs
Implement the curriculum as written, adapting it as needed to improve the camper experience or accommodate individual campers, and capturing feedback to share with curriculum developers
Provide leadership, energy and camp spirit, constantly assessing group dynamics and the needs of individual CITs
Work closely with the staff team to ensure that CIT participation and service to camp is supportive of their daily responsibilities
Provide excellent customer service to families by communicating with them on a daily basis about their camper’s experience
Contribute to and participate in check-in and check-out, daily opening and closing ceremonies, all-camp activities, and snack & lunch supervision and programming
Assist with daily setup and cleanup of camp
Maintain safe environments for all campers
CIT Instructors will report to the Camp Director and receive professional development and ongoing coaching
REQUIREMENTS

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 by start of camp to ensure staff and campers are as safe and healthy as possible and to comply with enhanced health and safety protocols

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Must be at least 18 years of age by May 30, 2022
College degree preferred but not required
Experience with 7th
– 10th graders preferred
Experience with youth leadership development a plus
Experience working with kids or in a camp setting a plus
WORK HOURS AND DATES
The camp day runs, on average, 8 hours for CIT Instructors, and a typical schedule is from 7:45am-4:15pm.
General Camp Staff Hours:
Staff may work anytime between 7:30am and 6pm, Monday through Friday.
Number of hours and start/finish time will vary by site, position and day
Staff meetings: During regular work hours before or after the start of programming
2-12 hours of online training before camp begins
Training and setup days: Participate in two mandatory training and setup days in the days before camp starts
Camp cleanup: Participate in cleaning and packing up camp for an additional 1-5 hours in your last week of camp, typically some additional hours at the end of the day.
The needs of camp and resulting staff hours may vary.

COMPENSATION AND PERKS
We are committed to competitively compensating staff.
Regarding compensation:
Base pay begins at $16.50-$17.54/hr depending on location.
Staff are compensated at a regular hourly rate, with overtime at 1.5x the hourly rate in accordance with state and federal requirements.
Exact hourly rate is based on location and is included in the offer letter.
Staff will be compensated at an hourly training rate for 2-12 hours of online training to be completed before camp, and for 2 days on-site setup/training
Summer staff positions are temporary, seasonal non-benefited positions and do not include paid vacation time
