Who We AreAchievement Prep is a college-preparatory public charter school network committed to historically underserved communities of Southeast Washington, DC.

Opening in 2013, our elementary school serves scholars in K – 4th grade.

It also includes an early childhood partnership with AppleTree Institute, which serves pre-K3 and pre-K4 scholars.

Our mission is to prepare students to excel as high-achieving scholars and leaders in high school, college and beyond.What You Will DoThe Math Interventionist works extensively with scholars to help them improve specific Math skills such as number-identification, counting, etc.

The Math Interventionist addresses the specific needs of a particular scholar or group of scholars when regular classroom instruction is not sufficient.

The Math Interventionist works with the classroom teachers to design methods of learning that are most appropriate for each scholar.

The Math Interventionist has been trained in conducting these intensive learning sessions.

They will be responsible for Math interventions in all grades and classrooms (K-4th grade).Reporting To The Principal, You WillInstructional DutiesWork one-on-one, in small groups, and in whole class settings to provide support to scholars and staff to enhance Math skills daily Use data to identify and support scholars in need of small group or individual intervention/acceleration to achieve Math masteryDevelop lesson plans, curriculum, and assessments to monitor scholar progress and program effectivenessConsult frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to Math instruction using our progress-monitoring instrument as a base.Work with teachers in the administration and interpretation of Math assessment dataCollaborate with school leaders in planning, conducting, and evaluating professional development around Math practicesHelp teachers diagnose Math strengths and weaknesses and match these skills with appropriate techniques and materials.Push-in to classrooms at one or more grade levels to provide small group instruction in connection with the lead Math teacher Collaborate with lead Math teachers in the creation of high-quality intervention plansPull individual scholars or small groups of scholars from one or more grade levels to provide intense Math remediation in an alternate instructional settingIdentify curricular resources, innovative ideas, and instructional strategies to ensure scholar achievementWork with teachers on the administration and interpretation of Math assessment data, including but not limited to NWEA MAP data, STEP, ANET, End-of-Module assessments, and IReady Math dataCultural LeadershipServe as a model to all staff and scholars in establishing a positive, structured, and achievement-oriented school culture Set extremely high expectations and manage classes, small groups and one to one work with scholars in accordance with the Achievement Prep WayCommunicate frequently with families of scholars you serveEngage in additional school-wide responsibilities, such as lunch/recess duty, hallway posts, events committees, etc.Manage time, tasks, deadlines and responsibilities in a fast-paced environmentReceive continuous feedback from peers and school leaders on your practice and be expected to give the sameEmbody our core values of Determination, Respect, Enthusiasm, Accountability, and MasteryExhibit an unwavering commitment to high academic achievement and character development in our scholarsBe on campus from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and from 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM on WednesdaysAttend and support Family Nights/events that invite families into the buildingOther duties as required to fulfill our mission in the lives of our scholarsYou Must HaveBachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, Math or related field3 years of experience teaching Math in an urban school setting with children in historically underserved communities2 years experience as Math Specialist or Math InterventionistSpecific Training to teach foundational Math skillsIt Would Be Nice for Your to HaveMasters DegreeExperience coaching other teachersWhat We Value100% Scholars: You prioritize what’s best for scholars first.Results Without Excuses: You set, track and achieve ambitious goals; and you own the mistakes.Sweat the Small Stuff: You pay attention to the smallest details to ensure smooth, predictable, and effective outcomes.Community Matters – Mightily: You show care and respect for others – even when the work is taxing.Unapologetically Mission-Driven: You have a “whatever it takes” mentality in achieving the mission.
