Access Hospital Dayton is committed to the mental health, substance use recovery, and well-being of our patients through prevention, intervention, treatment, education, and promotion of substantial life skills.Position: Director of Nursing (DON)Position Type: ExemptDirect Reports: Administrator_Responsibilities of the Director of Nursing include, but are not limited to: _ Organizes, administers & directs clinical & administrative activities for the Department of Nursing Services, Staff Education & Training and the Medical Clinic; Develops and oversees the implementation of the nursing department goals, objectives, policies and procedures; assures compliance withthe standards, rules, and regulations set by the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OMHAS), and accrediting body agencies (i.E., The Joint Commission [TJC], Medicare [CMS]); The Director of Nursing also conducts clinical evaluations and reviews to assure appropriateness of patient care/services; Develops and oversees the implementation of nursing department competency programs, develops and directs Performance Improvement (PI) initiatives for nursing and aligns those activities with organization’s PI program; Develops and assures consistent compliance with nursing staffing models/patterns; Develops policies & implements activities to resolve problems/concerns which affect treatment and/or service delivery to patients; Works with community agencies (e.G., Alcohol, Drug Abuse & Mental Health (ADAMH) boards, community mental health agencies) & other system disciplines to assure quality service delivery (e.G., Social Work, Community Support Network [CSN]); The Director of Nursing directly supervises Nursing Supervisors; Conducts staff meetings, planning sessions and other activities; evaluates staff performance; recommends activities to achieve goals of Performance Action Plans; counsels employees as needed; Attends and functions as active member of the Administrative Executive Staff Committee and Governing Body meetings & reports on activities within scope of supervision.
Organizes and oversees Nursing Governance and Nursing Committees for operation of Nursing Department._Minimum Qualifications: _ The Director of Nursing must have a current license as registered professional nurse in state of Ohio as issued by Board of Nursing BSN degree and Masters required, Current BCLS certification.
Current First Aid certification.
Current CPI certification.
4 years hands-on psychiatric nursing experience required_Major Worker Characteristics: _The Director of Nursing should have knowledge of professional nursing procedures; psychiatric or developmentally disabled nursing; management; supervision; departmental, state & federal regulations, policies & procedures as related to nursing; counseling; interviewing; public relations.
Skills in operation of medical equipment.
