Description:
We are seeking a highly technical network engineer to join our growing production engineering team. This IT operations role applies an engineering approach to measuring and automating the reliability of the network to align with service-level objectives, agreements, and goals of the IT organization and business. Candidate must have strong hands-on technical expertise in modern datacenter architectures. Candidates should have excellent client facing skills and be able to articulate technical issues and be able to translate business requirements into technical architectures, data models and designs.
Experience with clients in the financial services domain is required.
Job Responsibilities
- The most important responsibility is to maintain the reliability of systems, services, or applications. Define and drive error budget, reduce MTTR, and improve operations through capacity management and performance metrics
- Automate operational tasks. Currently, most tasks are on-premise, and a few workloads are in Azure. In the next 2-3 years, most workloads will be in Azure.
- Use logs to generate patterns describing why services are going down
- Provide primary operational support and engineering for enterprise applications and systems.
- Use error budgets to balance speed to market and maintaining service-level objectives
- Define process and automation workflows
- Interact with other engineering teams to help them improve availability, reliability, observability and resilience of our infrastructure and systems.
- Use a proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
- Communicate timelines, network dependencies, resource constraints, and progress with stakeholders
Work experience
- Experience with Linux and Windows System Administration
- Experience with scripting languages – PowerShell, Python, JavaScript and Bash
- Experience with Continuous Delivery/Integration pipelines using Jenkins
- Experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices
- Experience with Azure including Azure Networking and Azure Monitor
- Comfortable with the following technologies:
- Ansible, Terraform, and SCCM,
- Git and Jenkins
- VMware, AD, SQL, Office 365, Exchange mail servers (on-premise and in Azure)
- Palo Alto Firewalls and Cisco Routers and Switches
Education
- Experienced: BS degree (or equivalent professional experience) in Computer Science or related engineering field with at least 8+ years of experience.
