RN Supervisor

Location: New Windsor, NYEmployment Type: ExemptHours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm (40hrs)Job Description:RN Site Supervisor oversees a medically complex IRA providing supervision of the delivery of services to adults with medically involved developmental disabilities.RN Site Supervisor provides oversight of a team comprised of nurses and direct care professionals.

Also is responsible for including, but not limited to operational budget, data collection, recruitment, development and staff supervision.Working under the direction of a leadership, RNDSP Supervisor will work to ensure that services are being provided at the standard set by Access: Supports for Living and NYS OPWDD.

RNDSP Supervisor meets with individuals, family members, and other relevant parties to create and ensure plans that deliver the services needed.

RNDSP Supervisor completes the necessary paperwork/electronic documentation showing the progress of the individual and to demonstrate that the program operates within state and federal guidelines and regulations.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Providing our individuals with the highest quality of care and services is our mission.

The RNDSP will work within their scope of practice under the Nurse Practice Act & NYS Office of Profession.Program Management””Ensures that the program is operating effectively and required activities are being conducted; ensures that individual needs are being met; documents that the program follows state rules and guidelines; maintains individual files and electronic records; manages the house budget and other operation to ensure that the client needs are met.Staff Management””Supervises the staff and leads their activities with the individuals; schedules the staff to meet the needs of the program and ensures that shifts are covered; participates in the hiring process and recommends candidates for hire; provides coaching and feedback, and completes staff performance agreements; implements staff discipline as needed; provides training on individuals, program activities, agency procedures & protocols, and OPWDD regulations; collects, approves, and audits staff timesheets along with coordination of paid time off.Advocacy””Assists individuals with achieving personal goals; works on behalf of individuals to overcome barriers; helps individuals participate in activities of their choice; respects individual’s personal beliefs, choices, and interests.Health Maintenance””Provides care and assistance to promote good health; helps individuals receive medical care and communicates with other medical professionals, families and other members of the interdisciplinary team; administers medications, medical procedures according to physician instructions; records information regarding health events, conditions, status regularly and ensures all necessary training in regards to PONS and confirms they are completed timely; provides First Aid/CPR and seeks emergency medical care when needed.Personal Care”” Assist individuals with activities of daily living when needed.Professional Behavior””Acts in a professional manner and visionary manner and communicates effectively with others; completes training programs; trains others as required and attends required meetingsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:Because of the essential duties and responsibilities of the position, applicants for theposition must: 1) be able to lift up to 50 lbs., be able to walk, bend, squat, turn in the knees, back, wrists and shoulders, and grasp with both hands (in order to perform CPR/First Aid, Strategies for Crisis Intervention & Prevention Revised (SCIP R) and Lifting and Carrying Techniques); 2) must be able to see and hear with or without correction; 3) be able to communicate effectively 4) have basic computer skills such data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets; 5) be able to complete the Agency training programs and successfully pass associated tests to meet competency requirements; and 6) individual employees must have 2 negative TB tests or show a negative chest x-ray, 7) must be able to operate/trouble shoot a ventilator, perform the functions required for tracheostomy care and PEG care 8) teach non-medical staff/family members how to perform proper medical care up to the skill of an LPN 9) be organized in their work & able to prioritize 11) the ability to triage at all times 12) knowledge of maintaining skin integrity 13) delegate work when necessary and appropriately 14) maintain a safe and professional work environment at all times.Working Conditions:While working as a RNDSP Supervisor, employees must be prepared for the following 1) atypical schedules””The Agency operates programs and services 24/7, 365 days a year; 2) possible exposure to blood borne pathogens; 3) possible exposure to profanity, violent, and/or offensive behavior from the individuals.Qualifications:In order to perform these functions and meet the requirements put forth by the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities, applicants for the RNDSP Supervisor position must:1) Be a Registered Nurse in good standing;2) Be able to legally work in the United States;3) Be age 21 or older and must meet the qualifications of a driver as established by our insurance carrier and The Agency policy;4) Be able to pass a background check and receive a fingerprint clearance;5) Be able to provide 3 verifiable non-family references including 1 previous employer; And6) Have some previous management experience or significant direct care experience.ALL POSITIONS ARE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND, FINGERPRINTING AND MOTOR VEHICLE REPORT CHECK.The agency is a smoke free workplace and offers smoke free campuses for our employees, visitors, clients and interns.EEO, AAE M/F/D/V.IND2022
