They are responsible for engaging all members of the online team to expand the unit’s creative capacity and move projects forward.

Ensures that there is a thoughtful and creative approach to collaboration between subject matter experts and instructional designers to support the development of highly engaging courses that incorporate inclusive pedagogy and respond to the needs of diverse learners.In collaboration with relevant departments, including Information Technology, expands the range of the available educational technologies and promotes their innovative application to refresh and design new online, high flex and hybrid programs that maximize student learning and student engagement.Supports the training and development of faculty to integrate technologies into teaching by providing instructional opportunities in both group and individual settings.

Provides quality assurance to ensure university standards and expectations are met across programs and courses.

Expected to have command of the field of instructional design, to remain current in the field and to apply that knowledge to all online/hybrid programs offered through the University and expected to know about current and emerging educational technologies and their potential for enhancing the educational impact of University programs.Duties & Responsibilities:Focus on best practice measures in pedagogy and technology to support asynchronous and synchronous distance learning.Coordinate instructional design with an understanding of best practices for distance learning with continuous awareness of the latest developments in online learning support materials such as OL texts, etc.Provide training and on-going support to PDs and Deans.Provide support in onboarding faculty and students to develop the necessary skills to be successful in teaching and learning within the online/distance modality.Provide instruction to all faculty to become more knowledgeable about and proficient with the use of technology for teaching, as well as developing training resources.Provide quality assurance and alignment with ADA compliance across courses and sections as well as advising faculty on universal design and accessibilityOversee the course build-out schedule and budget related to new programs and course revisionsServe as a liaison with the Department of Educational Effectiveness to assure inclusion of appropriate rubrics for assessment and alignment with accreditation requirements.Provides on-boarding, training, and support for subject matter experts who have been contracted for course developmentSupport on-ground faculty in utilizing Canvas to support on-ground coursesSupervise instructional designers and educational technologistOrganize initiatives for online programs and identify trends in online learningWork with faculty and administrative professionals in various departments to integrate distance learning options across all degree programs, and provide training for online instructorsDevelop distance learning policies and best practices in conjunction with departmental directorsAssess and analyze current online programs, and find ways to streamline and optimize processesEnsure compliance with academic calendars and maintains collaborative communications with all University programsWork with other institutional departments to support instructors delivering online coursework from the planning to the assessment phaseAssure inclusion of appropriate rubrics for assessment into course builds and alignment with accreditation requirements.Coordinate with advising department to assure student successPerform other related tasks, duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or directedSkills:Proficient computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.Experience with audio visual equipment, specifically, cameras for photos and recording videos preferred.Technical knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the leadership role to craft online programs using a wide range of technical tools and applications.Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, exhibiting the ability to work with accuracy and reliability, manage details, create and stick to working schedules and action plans, handle multiple projects, set priorities, and anticipate and address potential problems.Demonstrated experience exercising professional judgment, and taking initiative is critical.Demonstrated project management skills, working independently or in teams, build and maintain strong working relationships, cultivate a working network of contacts, and to coordinate effectively with others working collaboratively to complete a project or manage a program on time and on budget.Ability to work collaboratively with academic leadership and faculty members, including providing them instruction and support.Superior interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with a track record of effective and logical writing of letters, reports, presentations, summaries, design specifications, technical documentation, and technical support related explanations and responses for a variety of audiences.Sensitivity to cultural diversity and ability to communicate and interact effectively with people of all ages and diverse background; Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal contacts, and to maintain confidentiality at all times.Ability to maintain composure under high stress conditions.Minimum Qualifications:Education: Master’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Instructional Design, Curriculum Design, Learning Sciences, Educational Psychology or related field is preferred.

Doctorate degree is preferred.Experience: Five (5) years of experience leading collaborative teams in online and hybrid programs, with at least three years of direct supervisory experience.

Must have experience teaching online and developing courses at the masters and doctoral level.

Project management experience is a necessity, with the ability to work in teams and collaboratively with other university members.

Experience as a faculty member at a college or university is a plus.Certifications, Licenses, etc.: None.
