Engineer I

Position Summary:

  • The “Engineer” will provide support for utility projects (Water, Gas, Renewables, Electric). The work scope will support Project Manager-Project Engineers with engineering task, some CAD design (QAQC/Review/Spec Review/Material Confirmation) support with the Cordoba design group, technical engineering, permit, calculations with emphasis on safety, quality, detail work ethics, quality control, some field visits with a focus on customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions:

  • Support the initial pre-planning, planning stages, engineering/design stages, construction support, execution stages and closeout efforts.
  • Work with a Cordoba Team (Director, PMs, Project Engineers, Engineers & Coordinator) and Client PE and PMs and designers to manage the engineering and design utilities.
  • Field verify existing conditions and create utility design plans.
  • Create bill of materials for utility design plans.
  • Create construction phasing to safely tie in utilities to existing infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with the project team, including Utility Managers and Technical Supervisors, Field Engineering Representatives, and other departments, subcontractors, and organizations to complete the assigned projects.
  • Support construction efforts as deemed necessary for project construction
  • Understand project scope, project delivery, cost and schedules
  • Ensure that the assigned projects are completed safely, producing a quality product that is in accordance with governing codes, agencies, and client requirements, as efficiently and effectively as possible.
  • Interface with the client and the project team to complete the assigned work within schedule and budget.
  • Support meetings with clients, subcontractors, vendors and governing agencies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of department and company goals. Identify and implement improvements in processes and operations to control costs and improve productivity.
  • Participate in special projects or tasks as required.
  • Report progress in achieving the required work scope to the client on a regular basis. Track and report schedule and budget status.
  • Initiate trends and submit change orders to the client when appropriate.
  • Support with CAD standards, Processes, Mark-up, Start-Up CAD Design
  • Cordoba will emphasize Hands on Training with Cordoba Team for 4-6 months
  • Cordoba will also provide Mentor for total employment duration

Required Education, Skills, Training and Experience

  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • General understanding of utility design and construction.
  • Good problem-solving, decision-making, communication, analytical and human relations skills required.
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
  • Must be adaptable and flexible.
  • Proficiency utilizing knowledge and skills with MS Office Suite (including MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-PPT, MS-Project, MS-Outlook) and computer applications is mandatory for this position.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the U.S.A. on a full-time basis without sponsorship.
  • Ability to pass a pre-authorized physical including a drug-screening and background check is required
  • A high level of personal integrity and a strong work ethic are required.
