Senior Project Controls Specialist

We are currently seeking a Project Controls Specialist to join our team to work on various projects in the Los Angeles office, particularly large design-build and P3 infrastructure projects.

The focus of this role is to provide strong commercial support to project managers, directors and business administrators.

In particular in the areas of financial management, general commercial support, contract administration, sub consultant management and bid support.

Responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Commercial Manager and Project Manager in implementation of project specific cost control processes to ensure project profitability and other commercial goals are met
  • Assist in budget estimation and resource planning
  • Assist in preparation of a WBS, understand how schedule is integrated with WBS and budgets
  • Utilize financial system to monitor financial performance, project costs and other performance parameters.
  • Assist in preparing and updating project schedules, using P6.
  • Track actuals against budgets, conduct variance analyses, carry out reporting of project financials and respond to queries from project teams on performance issues.
  • Assist in monitoring and managing scope changes; maintaining change and risk registers, preparing fee proposals and contract change orders.
  • Assist in preparation and issuing of monthly client invoices and monitoring accounts receivable
  • Assist in collection, collation and review of timesheets of project team members
  • Assist in preparation of various monthly client reports.
  • Assist with commercial management of subs including preparation of sub agreements, tracking costs, and reviewing invoices and payments

The Qualified professional will have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering design or construction industries.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, data manipulation and spreadsheet design to communicate results.
  • Experience in PowerBI for report preparation desirable
  • General knowledge of commercial management and experience in contractual matters preferred
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and manage deadlines; highly organized
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working
  • Proactive ; a team player but able to perform independently.
  • Design-Build and experience of working with or for major Contractors preferred
  • Experience in preparing schedules using Primavera P6 is preferred.
