Chief Technology Officer

Summary

  • Responsible for the planning, development, and oversight of technology to be used within Company and partnering external agencies.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and executive team to determine short-term and long-term, company-wide information and technology needs.
  • Develops and executes strategies in team and system development, hardware and software acquisition, and strategic partnership to meet business demands.
  • Creates a software development culture drawing from current best practices of software engineering, product management & DevOps.

Primary Duties

Leadership and Management

  • Works collaboratively with the CEO, senior leadership, board members, and other key stakeholders as a thought partner and leader on tech that accelerates Company’s Business.
  • Develops and leads system-wide architecture and technology strategy for operational excellence and strategic growth.
  • Communicates technology vision, strategy, and execution to executive team, Board members, external partners, and investors as needed.
  • Creates and structures development of technology for licensure and other business and revenue opportunities, including but not limited to equity partnerships, incubation/acceleration, acquisition, and spin-offs.
  • Regularly monitors, researches, identifies, and recommends enterprise opportunities to advance or implement cloud based, SaaS platforms, AI/machine learning, and other new technologies to drive improvement in organizational efficiency, performance, as well as yield a competitive advantage.
  • Evaluates risk and contract fulfillment of any 3rd party vendors.

IT Operations and DevOps

  • Builds and maintains the DevOps process that deploys all Company technologies, solutions and products to the production infrastructure for both internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Conducts needs assessment of existing AWS infrastructure and ensures proper resources are in place to achieve innovative solutions and organizational growth. Recommends trainings and learning opportunities to IT and other staff.
  • Uses stakeholders’ feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology, and ensures delivery of clear streamlined trainings to end users.
  • Works closely with Quality and Innovation, ensuring interoperability and functionality of appropriate platforms/systems.
  • Responsible for AWS cloud infrastructure including negotiations with all vendors and an infrastructure/cloud roadmap.

Data Infrastructure

  • Alongside Quality and Innovation, ensures the agency maintains proper data infrastructures to process, store, transfer and safeguard data.
  • Ensures data warehouse is structured in a way to allow for effective data retrieval, processing and analyses by other departments.
  • Supports organizational needs for efficient, high quality, fast, credible data processing, reporting and decisions.
  • Designs and implements policies and procedures related to the use of technology to inform efficient processes and standards, meet client needs, and enable Company to accomplish its organizational goals.

Security and Compliance

  • Able to lead company-wide innovation while ensures information security and compliance.
  • Serves as agency security officer (ensuring data integrity and security of data, infrastructure, intellectual property, personal information, from internal and external risks and threats.
  • Ensures that all organizational activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Regularly monitors, researches, identifies threats and advances in the security sector and recommends solutions.

Financial Duties

  • Plan and manage information technology strategic partnerships and contract negotiations for enterprise level networks, hardware, software and services.
  • Works closely with Financial Officer & CEO in development of IT annual operating budget & contract agreements.
  • Monitors IT related spend, making adjustments when necessary.

Minimum Requirements

To perform effectively in this position, the employee is required to have:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of demonstrated success and progressive experience involving technology, operations, and organizational transformation.
  • Minimum of 3 -5 years of direct leadership of Cloud infrastructure and operations for a small to medium size multi-unit organization, preferably in real-estate industry.
  • Must have a clear vision of what our tech ecosystem are going to be like in next 10-20 years and a detailed plan regarding human resources, budgets, and timeline.
  • An entrepreneurial, collaborative spirit, with the ability to adapt self and others and lead systemic change. Must have passion in real-estate business and willing to lead Company to redefine the entire real-estate industry with technology.
  • An expertise in any IT-related positions. Must be able to dive in deep as a full-stack developer and system designer. Must
  • Exhibited data-driven strategy and risk tolerance to expand Company’s infrastructure and footprint.
  • Demonstrated success in change leadership, strategic transformation, and developing and leading a high-performing IT workforce.
  • The ability to envision and inspire excitement and collaboration for field-defining technology in real-estate industry.
  • Integrity, honesty, transparency, vulnerability, leadership, & awareness of Company’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills as well as strong collaborative interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to self-start, navigate ambiguity and stay flexible in the exciting and constantly changing environment of our growing and evolving organization.

Preferred Requirements

  • Has successful experience in architecting an entirely reliable and scalable AWS infrastructure for a mid-sized company
  • Understands the concept of microservices / event-driven
  • Writes elegant and efficient codes in Python / Java
  • Has hands-on Machine Learning Project Experiences
  • Has proven successful mentoring experience
  • Has had a publication or produced a technical blog
  • Has contributed to knowledgeable open-source projects
  • Has following certificates:
  1. SCRUM Master
  2. AWS Solution Architect Professional / DevOps Engineer Professional
