CONTROLLER – RETAIL/WHOLESALE DIVISION
JOB SUMMARY:
Our client is a leading insurance company located in the San Fernando Valley and is seeking a dynamic Controller for their retail/wholesale division to join their team.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary:
- Finance Tools and Process: Identify and implement appropriate financial tools, systems, and processes to improve the accuracy and efficiency of our broader finance operations.
- General Accounting:
- Responsible for the monthly close process for the Retail and Wholesale divisions.
- Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
- Prepare all documents that support the monthly close process and month end balances.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and related footnotes.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts.
- Responsible for all necessary journal entries, both monthly and year end.
- Research technical accounting issues for compliance.
- Prepare various budget variance reports on revenue and expense detail.
- Analyze financial details to identify areas where improvement is needed.
- Manage accounting operations including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Manage, hire, train and develop staff based on needs of the department.
- Ensure compliance with government agencies and corporate policies and procedures.
- Internal Controls: Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Audit: Responsible for external audit requirements for schedules and supporting documentation.
- M&A: Assist with merger and acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition integration.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major
- Strong technical accounting skills. CPA certification highly desired
- 10+ years related Accounting experience
- 3 years audit experience preferred
- Experience managing a team of accounting professionals.
- Experience working for an insurance broker or insurance related is a plus
Salary Range for Divisional Controller: $150,000 – $180,000 annually (based on experience)
