Senior Staff Accountant

California Children’s Academy is looking for an enthusiastic person who is a team player and eager to learn and advance in accounting knowledge and skills under the supervision of CPA. California Children’s Academy is a State funded Nonprofit Organization providing high quality early learning and care to children from low-income working families in Los Angeles County.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Prepare and record accurate and timely month-end journal entries

· Perform all accounts payable functions including reviewing all invoices, coding, timely processing of payments, maintaining vendor files, and communicate with vendors

· Manage and record corporate credit card expenses

· Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations

· Analyze income statement accounts

· Assist in month-end closing procedures

· Support the annual financial statement and other audits

· Responsible for Asset Inventory Management and record keeping

· Responsible for internal procurement, policies and processes and track compliance

. Purchasing

o Coordinates annual purchase planning with various departments

o Seeks and partners with reliable vendors and suppliers

o Oversees the proposal, bidding, negotiation process for goods and services

· Assist with special or ad hoc projects as needed

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAPP)
  • Strong ability using Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with Sage accounting software (plus)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Quick learner and problem solver
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Knowledge of payroll process and record keeping
  • Procurement Experience (plus)
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English a plus)

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (Required)
  • 5+ years relevant experience in accounting including month-end close.
  • Procurement and Inventory experience a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $62,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
