About This Role
Crexi is looking for an Accounting Manager to be a leader of accounting & financial operations for our rapidly growing company.

Reporting directly to the VP Corporate Controller, the Accounting Manager will be responsible for providing accounting support and expertise, ownership and improvement of accounting processes, and development of a high-performing accounting team.

The Accounting Manager will build and supervise a team of staff and/or senior accountants.

The Accounting Manager must be a hands-on, roll up your sleeves type of leader and should enjoy a fast-paced environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain and apply knowledge of US GAAP and possibly SEC reporting requirements.
  • Manage month and quarter-end close process and activities, including the preparation and/or review of journal entries and financial reporting to ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  • Work closely with cross functional partners in the business to capture and record relevant transactions that have financial reporting impact and determine appropriate accounting for operational activities.
  • Manage the year-end audit and ensure timely and accurate completion, including the preparation of GAAP financial statements and related footnotes.

    Liaise with external auditors and take ownership of certain key audit areas as required.

  • Assist in development and implementation of accounting controls and procedures.

    Analyze existing processes and recommend/initiate process improvement and automation initiatives to streamline accounting operations and improve the quality of the month-end close process.

  • Work with Corporate Controller to strategically build a GL accounting team consisting of staff and senior accountants with appropriate levels of experience based on analysis of work requirements.

    As a leader, drive effort to create and maintain a team environment consistent with company culture and objectives.

  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.

    Manage personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.

  • Work with direct reports to establish goals and objectives and monitor progress to enhance professional development.
  • Work with the Corporate Controller and external tax advisors to ensure appropriate tax compliance, including sales tax, property tax, and state/federal corporate tax returns and filings.
  • Lead the team in optimization/implementation of the ERP system and other financial systems as appropriate.
  • Respond to inquiries from the Corporate Controller and other finance staff regarding financial results and special reporting requests.
  • Support the FP&A team with budget and forecasting activities and collaborate with finance department managers to support overall department goals.
  • Provide support for ad-hoc special projects as needed.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major or emphasis in Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • CPA license and at least 6-8 years of relevant public and private company experience including audit experience with a Big 4 or national mid-tier accounting firm.
  • Progressive management experience with experience leading and developing teams and managing the month-end close process.
  • US GAAP and internal controls expertise and ability to operationalize accounting guidance into policy.

    Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, and regulations.

  • Prior experience working with large ERP and database systems.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (can maintain complex spreadsheets) and are comfortable analyzing large datasets to make informed conclusions.
  • Ability to drive projects to completion, manage competing priorities and provide guidance to the team and business on prioritization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to create effective cross-functional relationships across the organization.
