The Advanced Technology Group within Aioi Insurance USA specializes in Research and Development of new technologies that can be used by both the automotive and insurance industries.

Job Overview: The Lead Developer/Architect is responsible for architecture, functional requirements, product development, and system operations–the complete Life Cycle.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end software product development work with vehicle telemetry data to develop cutting edge products.

Primary work will be on the AWS back-end development and the user interface.

Secondary work will be on device software development.

You will be working on our MOTER (Mobility On The Edge in Real-time) product which is the next generation of vehicle insurance data platform that incorporate edge computing, video and AI (Image Recognition) on the device.

We are expanding to have MOTER applied to fleets of vehicles for large-scale commercial-ready state—device software, connectivity, back-end, OTA functionality, etc.

We will also be developing the device software into an SDK.

The Lead Developer will also be mentoring some junior members of our team.

Primary Job Responsibilities: End-to-end responsibility for new software product development; Develop Product Requirement Documents and Functional Requirement Documents; Architect overall device software, data collection system, and data analytic solution; Project manage our embedded device software built by the R&D team to be production-ready using vendors as necessary, and to integrate it to the AWS backend for data processing; Perform or oversee UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and/or Quality Assurance; Responsibilities for system operation; Continue to enhance the system based on new findings and requirements; Develop an SDK version of our embedded device software; and Perform Error and Bug-Fix verification.

Experience: 10-15 years of software development experience; Experience architecting end-to-end solutions Experience performing data analysis and data reporting; Experience implementing data bases and data base designs, RDBMS and big data; Experience implementing solutions in AWS cloud environment; Familiarity with data science and data science tools is a plus; Fleet Management or Dash Cam Company product development experience is a plus; Experience working in Agile Scrum environments is a plus; Experience with device software development is a plus; and Experience with or working knowledge of automotive telematics or connected car is a big plus Qualifications: Four-year college degree preferably in a technical discipline; Familiarity with contemporary software development approaches (e.g.

agile) and tools (e.g.

Jira); 3-5 years of hands on experience working in Data Science or Software Engineering in a corporate environment or start-up environment; Programming language/system knowledge: Linux, AWS, JAVA, AWS IoT Core, Kinesis, Kafka, SQL, RDBMS and Python; Knowledge of Backend “cloud” infrastructure, mobile networks and communication protocols; Knowledge of Telematics systems and concept validation a plus; Cellular and Wi-Fi system knowledge is a plus; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of products; Awareness of software security and consumer privacy best practices; Effective at building strong relationships, internally and externally; and Strong technical background to influence technical design and investment decisions.
